On Friday 17 January, BT and TIP welcomed this year's TEAC UK Wave 3 finalists to the BT Tower.
The judges from BT and TIP heard from six start-ups in the Edge Computing and 5G Private Network fields. The companies pitching were; Condense Reality, ADVA, CloudBackend, DoubleMe, TDCOMM & Ori Industries.
The audience was made up of academics, VC's, investors, customer's and analysts, all interested in TEAC UK and the central themes. After long deliberation, the judges came to the decision that there would be two winners, they being:
DoubleMe
Ori Industries
These two companies will now get to collaborate with BT Research for the next 12-18 months, developing their solution. Equally, they get the opportunity to join Innovation Martlesham, the hi-tech cluster based at Adastral Park. TEAC UK is also sending the two companies to MWC in Barcelona, with a stand at the heart of the conference.
Paul Crane, BT Networks Research Director, and judge on the day commented:
"The TEAC UK Wave 3 finals day was very exciting and inspirational. The six finalists were very high quality, demonstrating the possibilities of edge computing and 5G private networks. The high standard of the entries made the judging very challenging. Congratulations to the winners, DoubleMe and Ori industries!"
Dean Gasson, TEAC UK Lead for BT said of the event:
"Year on year the quality of applications we receive to TEAC UK is soaring. The great thing about our competition is that it unearths fantastic telco innovation right here in the UK, but this year we received applications as far away as Australia! Post-final, we're now looking forward to the year ahead with the winners and seeing what we can accomplish together."
