The town of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire is known as the ‘Festival Town of England' -hosting more festivals than anywhere else in the country.
Last year the New York Times described it as ‘a town enjoying a cultural renaissance with many "happening spots"’. As well as being described by The Independent as ‘a design destination with stylish places to eat and drink’. High praise indeed.
On the edge of the stunning Cotswolds, Cheltenham Spa (as it’s also known as), is a town steeped in regency history, with many architectural and heritage landmarks. With its cafe culture and al fresco style eateries, the town also manages to emanate a truly continental feel, with a variety of wonderful independents to choose from.
A main go-to area is The Brewery Quarter - a buzzing district where old meets new. It’s now a tourist favourite, home to shops, a multi-screen cinema, bowling alley and bars offering live gigs and entertainment.
Cheltenham has everything to offer from Gin Tasting to Brewery and Beery walking tours, as well as plenty of restaurants and cafes to satisfy avid foodies.
If you fancy a bit of retail therapy, the town is well-known for its shopping experience. Independent shopping quarters such as Montpellier and The Suffolk’s compliment the high street brands, and John Lewis is on its way in 2018!
And for those who crave a bit of culture, as the home of festivals, Cheltenham is not only host to the annual Cheltenham Festival & Gold Cup, but also the Cheltenham Festival Series - Jazz, Music, Science and Literature. Many venues across the town, both large and small, offer an annual entertainment programme to suit every age and genre.
