Full Fibre: Self-installation advice

We’ll be able to switch on Full Fibre remotely for some customers, if this is you, there are some things you can do to make sure your equipment is ready.

You’ll received an email or letter confirming the date of activation. You can also check via My BT.

 

1: The day before activation, make sure your Openreach modem is connected to the mains and all the lights are on. If you are a Full Fibre customers and don’t have an Openreach modem you’ll need to book an engineer appointment to get one installed via My BT. 

Depending which model of Openreach modem you have, it will either come with a battery pack that connects to the mains, or it will connect directly to a power socket.

Customers who are with us for Fibre Essential, Fibre 1 or Fibre 2, won’t have an Openreach modem and will need to follow instructions on setting up your BT Hub.

2: Plug the Ethernet cable (red end) into the Port/LAN1 socket of the Openreach modem and connect it to port marked ‘WAN’ on the back of your BT Hub. This will be yellow or red depending on the type of Smart Hub you have.

3: On the activation date, we'll email or text you once your Full Fibre is switched on - this might not be until later in the day.

Once you are up and running keep your modem switched on or you may not be able to make or receive calls.
