We've updated your email

Welcome to your brand-new email - it's more reliable than ever and with all the security you'd expect from BT. Here you'll find changes you'll need to make and all the features you can enjoy.

Your new email still has all your favourite features, but is more streamlined and lets you organise and personalise your inbox and folders. Your email address will stay the same and any additional email addresses linked to your account will still be there. To manage them, just log in to My BT with your BT ID.

You can still sign in to your email via www.btcom.ll-digital-sandbx1.bt.com/email or by clicking on the Email link in the top right-hand corner of our site.

Select the email link from the toolbar

Not everybody will see the changes at the same time and it will take a few months before all email users enjoy the same experience. And we may not update all your email addresses at the same time so some customers will temporarily lose the ability to switch between their email accounts when using webmail. This will be possible once all of your email addresses are updated. Once we've updated your email, you won't be able to go back to the old layout.

What you need to change

Firstly, you'll need to make sure you're using one of the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 11, Edge, Chrome 60+, Firefox 52+ or Safari 10+. If you're using an older browser, you'll need to update it.

Update your settings

You'll no longer be able to use login.yahoo.com to access your emails - so if you used this, we'll have asked you to change this in advance of updating your email.

Synchronise your Calendar and Contacts

If you use Calendar and have Contacts on your email account, you now need to update the settings used to synchronise your Calendar and Contacts with your devices:

  • CalDav synchronises your calendar data
  • CardDAV synchronises your contact data

  1. From the Settings on your device, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  2. Select Mail account then Other
  3. Under Calendars select Add CalDAV Account
  4. Input the server name which is cal.btinternet.com then your username and password
  5. Click Next

Your calendar entries will now be visible in the calendar app on your device. Any changes made in webmail will show up on your device with a refresh.

If your contacts aren't appearing automatically when you're typing an email, you'll need to make some changes to settings so that your email remembers any addresses you send to.

Go to Settings > Mail and select Auto-save new contacts.

Features we no longer support

We've removed the following features to improve the overall performance of your email:

  • Disposable email addresses
You'll no longer be able to create a disposable email address and any you previously had will have been deleted when we updated you to the new email service. We wrote to everyone impacted by this change before the update was made.

Remember, you can create up to 11 email addresses on your email account, so you could use one of these to hide your true identity when using online services.

  • Confirmation messages
When you send an email you'll no longer see a confirmation message. If the email was sent successfully, it'll be in your Sent folder. If the email wasn't sent, you'll receive a notification or a bounce back message.

  • Spell check
This feature is built into your browser and isn't linked to the new email service.
