I have a problem with my black Powerline Adapters - how do I reset them?

First, plug both Powerline Adapters next to each other in a double socket. Allow them to start up and configure themselves for at least one minute. Both Adapters should have a green status light, and one Adapter should have a green AP light. If not, you need to follow the steps below to reset them.

I have no lights

If you've plugged the Adapter into a mains power socket but no lights come on, make sure the power is switched on at the mains and socket.

If you've done this and no lights appear on the Adapter, check the socket by plugging in another electrical device. If that works but your Powerline Adapter still shows no lights, then the Powerline Adapter could be faulty. You'll need to contact the BT TV Help Desk.

I do have lights

  1. Plug the Powerline Adapters into a double socket (or plugs) near to each other (not anti-surge extension leads or sockets). After you've followed these reset instructions, you can put them back in their usual place.

  2. Turn on one Adapter at the mains. Wait at least a minute for it to start up. After this, the red status light should be on, and possibly the AP light. Press and keep holding the [CONFIG/RESET] button. The AP light will start to flash. Keep holding the [CONFIG/RESET] button until the all the lights go out and then release it. This process should take about 10-20 seconds.

  3. Wait about one minute for the Powerline Adapter to reboot (you may see the red status light flash off then on again during this time). Wait for the green Ethernet light to go out, and you should now see a red status light only on Adapter 1. If you see any other lights, repeat step 2 - you may not have held the button down for long enough.

  4. Turn on Adapter 2. Wait 15-30 seconds for it to start up and for the green Ethernet light to go out. The red status light should be on, and possibly the AP light.

Press and keep holding the [CONFIG/RESET] button. The AP light will start to flash. Keep holding the [CONFIG/RESET] button until all the lights goes out and then release it. This process should take about 10 seconds but can take up to 40 seconds.

  5. Wait about one minute for the Powerline Adapters to reboot and connect to each other. You may see the red status light flash off then on again during this time.

  6. At this point both Powerline Adapters have been factory reset. Both status lights should be green.

  7. On Adapter 2 press the [CONFIG/RESET] button until the AP light starts flashing, then release the button. After 15-30 seconds the AP light will then turn solid GREEN.

  8. On Adapter 2 press the [CONFIG/RESET] button until the AP light starts flashing, then release the button.

  9. Whilst Adapter 2 is flashing, on Adapter 1 press the [CONFIG/RESET] button until the AP light starts flashing. Then release the button (make sure you do this straight after you have done the same to Adapter 2).

  10. After a few seconds, the status lights should go green on both Adapters and the AP light on Adapter 2 should be solid. They're now both reset, and you can plug them back in where they were before.

    Check Correct Configuration
Both 'Status' lights should be green and one of the 'AP' lights will be on (it doesn't matter which one).
