Frank Warren's column: Lyndon Arthur must do a job on the Italian!
Hall of Frame promoter Frank Warren previews a cracking night of boxing at London's iconic Royal Albert Hall this Saturday night as Lyndon Arthur takes on Davide Faraci exclusively live on BT Sport.
Lyndon Arthur is in a great fight and certainly can’t afford to slip up this weekend against Davide Faraci.
Lyndon's ranked number one with the WBO now but if he loses, obviously that won’t be the case anymore. He’s been talking this fight up a bit, Lyndon, and I want to see something spectacular from him on Saturday night.
It'd be particularly special for an Englishman to get the edge over on an Italian the night before the Euro 2020 final!
Lyndon's got a great jab. He says he fought with a bad hand in his win over Anthony Yarde so with that healed up we could see a lot more from him now.
Everything that has been asked of him so far, he’s done so I don't see any reason why he can't continue stepping up through the levels.
Mentally, having got that big win against Yarde last time out too, I think he’s in a good place to produce something a bit special this weekend.
Pride Park beckons one day for Zach!
Zach’s in a great spot too, he’s also the number one ranked contender at super-middleweight with the WBO.
He’s in a tough fight this weekend and I’m hoping he can do what he did on his debut for us again. He was brilliant in that fight against Vaughn Alexander, I liked what I saw.
I hadn’t seen loads of him before he joined the Queensberry stable but I think he’s got something about him. He's in such a great position to challenge for a world title soon but he can't take his eye off the ball.
What I think will happen is once Canelo has fought in September against Caleb Plant, if that's who they decide on, he wins that and he’ll have all the belts at super-middleweight. Then he’ll have to start making defences of the belts against his mandatories, including Zach, or he’ll have to vacate one. Zach is in a brilliant position to take advantage of whatever happens.
He’s got close links with Derby football club and we’d love to take a show to Pride Park. They would love it up there. He’s a really bright, nice lad too. I’m surprised he’s not a bit more of a star but he’s certainly on his way now!
The Juggernaut returns!
I’m really excited about Joe Joyce’s upcoming fight against Carlos Takam, which we announced last week. Stylistically, this one is guaranteed entertainment. Neither of these two men take a backwards step and it is going to be a cracker.
Joe is just relieved to be getting back in there after a bit of a tricky time waiting to see how the rest of the heavyweight landscape would shake out. It is frustrating but sometimes you have to have a bit of patience in boxing. At least now he’s got a decent opponent and a good profile fight.
You look at Joe and the amount of fights he’s had as a professional and he’s a novice – but his record already has some bloody good names on there. He’s not hanging about. I think he deserves much more respect, he steps up to the plate every time.
