After a week when the very fabric of football was under threat from the proposed European Super League, the Premier League returns on BT Sport with Liverpool’s home match against Newcastle United.
Defending champions Liverpool have now withdrawn from the competition after widespread condemnation of the proposal and they return to action looking to bolster their top-four credentials against Steve Bruce’s Newcastle.
Sixth-placed Liverpool are two points adrift of Chelsea in fourth and still have a genuine chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League after recovering from a mid-season collapse.
Successive wins against Burnley and West Ham have strengthened Newcastle’s hand in their battle to avoid to drop and they are eight points clear of the drop zone with six games to play.
The next day, we have a huge West Midlands derby between Aston Villa and West Brom. 11th-placed Villa have struggled to replicate their early-season form without captain Jack Grealish and are in danger of missing out on a top-10 finish.
Sam Allardyce’s West Brom need a minor miracle to retain their top-flight status despite a marked upturn in form under the former England boss.
A remarkable week in the history of the sport concludes with a tantalising Premier League double-header. How will the clubs react to the botched European Super League? Watch all the action on BT Sport.
Three title fights. Full capacity. An unmissable rematch. We have a blockbuster UFC card this weekend, headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal 2.
15,000 fans will be in attendance in Jacksonville, Florida to witness Masvidal attempt to avenge his loss to welterweight king Usman at UFC 251, where ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ defended his title via unanimous decision.
Usman is riding a 17-fight win streak entering the fourth defence of his 170-lb title, while Masvidal’s meteoric rise is in danger of fizzling out after he propelled himself into title contention after a hugely successful 2019.
The women’s strawweight title is also on the line when champion Zhang Weili and former champion Rose Namajunas meet in a superb co-main event.
If that’s not enough, women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defends her belt against Jessica Andrade.
Middleweights Uriah Hall and Chris Weidman also meet in a rematch and former light heavyweight challenger Anthony Smith faces Australian contender Jimmy Crute.
With no shortage of storylines ahead of a stacked UFC 261 card, don’t forget to set your alarms for what promises to be one of the most thrilling fight cards of the year.
Once again, we’ve got every single minute from the Gallagher Premiership exclusively live on BT Sport this weekend, beginning with a monster clash between leaders Bristol Bears and reigning champions Exeter Chiefs.
Pat Lam’s side bounced back from European defeat in Bordeaux with a routine win over Newcastle Falcons and will be looking for another statement win against Rob Baxter’s charges. They will have to do it the hard way, with star trio Callum Sheedy, Semi Radradra and scrum-half Harry Randall all sidelined.
The action continues with four matches on Saturday, with our first offering coming from the Brentford Community Stadium as in-form Harlequins travel to London Irish.
Play-off-chasing Northampton Saints visit Leicester Tigers in our featured game on Saturday, with Gloucester v Newcastle and Worcester Warriors v Sale Sharks also exclusively live.
The rugby weekend concludes on Sunday when Wasps entertain Bath at the Ricoh Arena.
In what is shaping up to be a dramatic conclusion to the domestic season, don’t miss any of the run-in on BT Sport.
Big-time boxing returns to BT Sport on Saturday night when Denzel Bentley makes the first defence of his British middleweight title against mandatory challenger and commonwealth champion Felix Cash.
The unbeaten pair meet in the main event of a huge fight night which will also see the return of Callum Johnson and prospects David Adeleye, George Davey, Henry Turner, James Heneghan and Karol Itauma.
Battersea’s Bentley won the title after a hugely impressive win over Mark Heffron in November, while Cash claimed the Commonwealth strap in 2019 when he stopped Rasheed Abolaji inside a round.
He has also stopped Jack Cullen and Jason Welborn in his two defences and boasts a fearsome knockout record.
“If we’re both at our best, it will be a very good fight. There will be moments when the fight will be back and forth, but I am expecting to win,” said Bentley.
Cash added: “I want my name to go in the history books of holding the British title. It’s time to show everyone in the division who’s the man.
“There’s only one way to win in my eyes and I’m coming to take him out.”
Women’s Champions League
The Women’s Champions League takes centre stage on BT Sport on Sunday with a mouth-watering double-header.
Paris Saint-Germain face Barcelona and Bayern meet Chelsea, with all four clubs targeting a maiden Champions League trophy after holders Lyon were dumped out in the last round.
First up, Paris Saint-Germain, who sensationally eliminated Lyon courtesy of the away goals rule after a dramatic second leg, entertain Barcelona who reached the last four at the expense of Man City.
The Blaugrana lost their quarter-final second leg in Manchester but progressed comfortably enough after winning the first game in Spain 3-0.
Part two of our superb double-header sees Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple against Bayern Munich.
Emma Hayes’ side broke their European hoodoo against Wolfsburg to reach the last four but face a stern test against Frauen-Bundesliga leaders Bayern.
They took one step closer to securing another domestic title after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Man City and will be looking to cap off an important week in their season with another positive result away from home.
After Lyon’s stranglehold was broken, the Women’s Champions League is wide open ahead of the semi-finals. Don’t miss any of the action on BT Sport on Sunday.
Finally, there’s yet another huge weekend of Bundesliga and Ligue 1 action on BT Sport in store as both leagues approach a dramatic finale.
Lille, Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Lyon are all genuine title contenders in France in what is shaping up to be the tightest run-in in Europe.
All four clubs are live and exclusive on BT Sport weekend, with Lyon and Lille facing off in an unmissable encounter on Sunday evening.
