Liverpool have landed 14-time winners Real Madrid after finishing second in their group in a repeat of last year’s final which the Spaniards edged 1-0 in Paris.

Both clubs have a rich history in Europe, but Real have got the better of recent encounters, beating Liverpool in the 2018 and 2021 finals and triumphing in a two-legged quarter final in 2020-21.

Chelsea are set for a first competitive meeting with Borussia Dortmund after topping their group.

Graham Potter’s side won four successive games in the competition after a slow start but face a tough assignment against the German side complete with Jude Bellingham.

Man City also face Bundesliga opponents in RB Leipzig, who they met in the group stages last year. They won an entertaining encounter 6-3 at the Etihad before losing the return match in Germany 2-1.

Tottenham have been drawn against Italian giants AC Milan after dramatically qualifying for the knockouts in Marseille on Matchday 6.

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been drawn together in a titanic match-up.

The French champions remarkably finished second in their group behind an inspired Benfica and will have to overcome Bayern to remain in the hunt for their first Champions League trophy.

They have not lost a competitive game since March but face a Bayern side who won all six of their group games.

The rest of the draw sees Napoli take on Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge face Benfica in a meeting of two of the competition’s surprise packages and Inter meet Porto.
