Stade de France in Saint-Denis, in the northern suburbs of Paris, will host this season’s Champions League final on Saturday 28 May.

Built to stage games in the 1998 World Cup, the 81,338-capacity stadium is the seventh largest in Europe.

France’s national stadium has hosted the final twice before, in 2000, when Real Madrid beat Valencia, and in 2006, when Barcelona beat Arsenal.

The match was due to be staged in Russia, but was moved from Saint Petersburg’s Krestovsky Stadium following the nation’s invasion of Ukraine.

Liverpool will play Real Madrid in a repeat of the 2018 final, which the Spanish club won 3-1.

The Reds, who are chasing their seventh European crown, beat Villarreal 5-2 on aggregate to reach the final, while Real Madrid beat Man City 6-5 in a thrilling semi-final to keep their hopes of a 14th title alive.

The two clubs also met in the 1981 final in Paris, with Liverpool winning 1-0 thanks to a late winner from full-back Alan Kennedy.
