Champions League and Europa League: Your complete guide as the knockout rounds continue on BT Sport

The Champions League and Europa League quarter-finals are in full swing with another captivating week of European football exclusively available on BT Sport. 

Chelsea have already booke their place in the last four but this week we discover whether Liverpool, Man City, Man United and Arsenal will advance to their respective semi-finals.

The second legs are underway and we’ve got all the information you need as both competitions enter the home straight.

State of play

Chelsea have sealed a place in the Champions League semi-finals after seeing off Porto 2-1 on aggregate in Seville. The Blues, with a 2-0 lead from the first leg, conceded a stunning Mehdi Taremi overhead kick late on but it was too little too late for Porto and Chelsea advance to their first Champions League semi-final in seven years.

Paris Saint-Germain are the other side to have sealed a place in the last four after knocking out holders Bayern Munich. Leading 3-2 from the away leg, PSG lost 1-0 in Paris but went through on away goals as they avenged last season's final defeat to Hansi Flicke's men.

Man City are in pole position to reach the last four of the Champions League after a quarter-final first-leg win over Borussia Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola’s side are desperate to exorcise their demons after years of heartache in Europe’s premier club competition, and they take a slender lead to Germany after a late Phil Foden goal secured a 2-1 win in Manchester.

Liverpool, meanwhile, were largely second best in a 3-1 defeat to 13-time champions Real Madrid and they must conjure another magical comeback at Anfield without their vociferous fans to progress.

In the Europa League, Man United take a two-goal lead back to Old Trafford after Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes sealed an away win over Granada, but Slavia Prague scored a late equaliser to leave Arsenal’s Europa League hopes hanging in the balance.

In remaining quarter-finals, Roma edged Ajax 2-1 courtesy of a late Roger Ibanez strike and Gerard Moreno continued his impressive run of form with the winner for Villarreal against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Champions League and Europa League quarter-final second legs will be played on the week commencing Monday 12 April, with the semi-finals and final taking place in late April and May.

Routes to the final

The draws for the semi-final of the Champions League and Europa League were made at the same time as the quarter-final in March at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

Should Man City complete the job against Borussia Dortmund and progress to the last four they will meet the winner of Real Madrid’s clash with Liverpool.

In the other side of the draw, Porto or Chelsea will face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain.

The winners of the two-legged semi-finals will meet in May’s showpiece in Istanbul.

In the Europa League, Man United will go up against Ajax or Roma in a tantalising clash should they progress at the expense of Granada, while Arsenal or Slavia Prague will meet the winner of Dinamo Zagreb’s clash with Villarreal.

The final will take place at Gdansk Stadium in Poland.
