FIFA 23 top 100 player ratings: Find out who is the best on the new game

The release of FIFA 23 is almost upon us, with the latest edition of EA Sports’ famed football franchise available to play from Friday 30 September.

The highly-anticipated game is the 30th and final collaboration between EA and football's world governing body, which has only added to the anticipation.

To whet the appetite, the player ratings for the game's best players have been revealed and here we count down from 23 all the way through to that coveted number one spot, with the rest of the top 100 to follow in due course. 

Marquinhos - 88

Paris Saint-Germain’s captain has been given an upgrade from last year’s edition of the game, when he was rated 87. 

Toni Kroos - 88

Kroos' ability to dictate the tempo of a match has played a significant part in Real Madrid’s unparalleled success and was key to Los Blancos winning a record-extending 14th Champions League title last season.

Erling Haaland - 88

Haaland has already scored back-to-back hat-tricks as he adjusts to life in the Premier League and looks like a grown man playing children’s football at times, but there's no movement in his overall rating!

Jan Oblak - 89

Oblak was the best goalkeeper in FIFA 22 with a rating of 91, but he has been significantly demoted for this year’s edition, almost certainly due to Atletico Madrid's failure to defend their La Liga title.

N’Golo Kante - 89

Kante’s value to Chelsea has been underlined during his absence at the start of this season, with an 89 rating in FIFA 23 testament to his consistency in the Premier League.

Ederson - 89

Manchester City’s Brazilian No 1 maintains his ranking after another exceptional Premier League campaign and his distribution is unmatched by any goalkeeper in the world.

Harry Kane - 89

Perhaps one of the most traditional strikers on this list, and undoubtedly one of the most reliable, Kane is still knocking in goals with unerring regularity for Tottenham and is now the third-highest Premier League goalscorer of all time. 

Alisson - 89

Many would argue that Alisson is the best in the world, but Liverpool’s goalkeeper will have to settle for an 89 rating for the second year running.

Casemiro - 89

Manchester United fans will be pleased to see their new defensive midfielder feature on this list following his impressive swansong at Real Madrid as Los Blancos won La Liga and the Champions League last season.

Joshua Kimmich - 89

Versatile and technically impeccable, Kimmich has quietly become one of the best midfielders in the world at Bayern Munich and has often played at right-back too. 

Sadio Mane - 89

Kimmich's new team-mate brought an end to a six-year spell at Liverpool this summer after scoring 120 goals in 269 appearances, making a similarly-impressive start to life in Munich.

Son Heung-min - 89

Son is again among the best attacking players on FIFA after his best season at Spurs, netting 24 goals in all competitions.

Neymar - 89

A few injury-hit, ultimately underwhelming seasons for Neymar, despite his undeniable talent, have resulted in a decline from a 91 rating to an 89 in FIFA 23.

Manuel Neuer - 90

He might have been around for a long time now, but Neuer is still among the top three goalkeepers in the world according to FIFA 23’s ratings, with the Bayern Munich stopper keeping his 90 rating from last year’s game after winning yet another Bundesliga title.

Thibaut Courtois - 90

Courtois proved his immense value to Real Madrid last season with a match-winning display in the 2022 Champions League final against Liverpool.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 90

Perhaps in an attempt to avoid another year of Messi vs Ronaldo debates, both players have the same rating in FIFA 23, although the Portuguese legend certainly merits his 90 rating after scoring 24 goals in all competitions last season.

Virgil van Dijk - 90

Liverpool’s imperious centre-back is, unsurprisingly, ranked as the best defender in FIFA 23 after marshalling the joint-stingiest defence in the Premier League last season. 

Mo Salah - 90

Salah has made the jump from 89 in last year’s game to 90 this time around after another exceptional season at Liverpool.

Lionel Messi - 91

Messi remains among the top forwards in the world, but the diminutive Argentine's FIFA rating has dropped from 93 to 91, having been the best player on last year's game.

Kevin De Bruyne - 91

Out in front as the best midfielder in the game, De Bruyne hit a career-best 19 goals in all competitions for Manchester City last season.

Kylian Mbappe - 91

Mbappe continues to score at a jaw-dropping rate for Paris Saint-Germain and is now, certainly by EA’s standards, considered one of the best players in the world.

Robert Lewandowski - 91

The joint-highest rated player on FIFA 23, Lewandowski is still going strong well into his 30s and has continued to find the back of the net consistently since moving from Bayern Munich to Barcelona. 

Karim Benzema - 91

Real Madrid’s talismanic forward has been given a glow-up for FIFA 23, two up from his FIFA 22 rating of 89, hardly surprising given that Benzema netted a career-best 44 goals in all competitions, so his 91 rating is well deserved.
