Kevin De Bruyne - 91

Out in front as the best midfielder in the game, De Bruyne hit a career-best 19 goals in all competitions for Manchester City last season.

With each season, he cements himself as one of the best players in the Premier League’s history, and it’s no surprise to see him amongst the world’s best in FIFA 23.

N’Golo Kante - 89

Kante’s value to Chelsea has been proved during his absence at the start of this season. The Blues have struggled for form without the effervescent Frenchman in midfield.

His tireless work doesn’t go unnoticed; an 89 rating in FIFA 23, though with very different attributes to De Bruyne, is testament to his consistency in the Premier League.

Casemiro - 89

Manchester United fans will be pleased to see their new defensive midfielder so high on this list.

The Brazilian was the dependable anchor in midfield for a Real Madrid team that won five Champions League titles over the last decade.

Joshua Kimmich - 89

Versatile and technically impeccable, Kimmich has quietly become one of the best midfielders in the world at Bayern Munich.

The Germany international has often played at right-back, too, but his smooth passing and intelligent positioning make him a natural in the middle of the pitch.

Sadio Mane - 89

Kimmich's new team-mate brought an end to a six-year spell at Liverpool this summer after scoring 120 goals in 269 appearances, and he has continued to be influential for Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old is on track to hit double figures for the 11th campaign in a row.

Toni Kroos - 88

Kroos has been one of the world’s elite midfielders for years now and there are few signs of that changing.

His ability to dictate play has played a significant part in Real Madrid’s unparalleled success, and will continue to do so in the coming seasons.

Luka Modric - 88

The indefatigable Modric is now 37 but still plays like he’s in his mid-20s.

His passing range and vision from midfield, alongside Kroos, make him one of the world’s top midfielders even as he approaches the end of his career.

Bernardo Silva - 88

Last season represented Silva's most successful campaign to date in terms of Premier League starts and goals - underlining his rating rise from 86 in FIFA 22 - and he remains one of Pep Guardiola's most trusted players this term.

Fabinho - 87

Fabinho made 48 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season and reading of the game, effective distribution and strength in the tackle marks him out as one of the game's best holding midfielders.

Thomas Muller - 87*

Still one of the first names on Bayern Munich's teamsheet at the age of 33, Muller's ranking remains unchanged from FIFA 22.

*Rodri, Frenkie de Jong, Marco Verratti and Leon Goretzka are also rated 87
