Modern Love, the anthology series featuring short stories inspired by the New York Times column of the same name, is returning for a second season.

The critically acclaimed first series was a huge hit when it first arrived on Prime Video in 2019, with its life-affirming stories and big-name cast - each episode features a new set of characters - offering viewers, according to one critic, "a warm hug".

When is Modern Love season 2 released?

All episodes will launch on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, August 13th.

In this season, love breaks all the rules. An old flame reignited. A test of friends vs. lovers. A night girl and her day boy. A romance with an ex's ex. A one-night stand. An impossible promise. A ghost of a lost lover. An exploration of sexuality.

The eight-part second season of the popular series Modern Love brings to life a collection of stories about relationships, connections, betrayals and revelations.

Who is in the Modern Love season 2 cast?

Just like season 1, the show has an incredible cast of famous actors you will know and love.

The impressive list includes Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Deuce), Susan Blackwell (Madam Secretary), Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), Tom Burke (Mank), Zoe Chao (Love Life), Maria Dizzia (Orange is the New Black) and Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver (Cinderella).

The cast also features Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah), Tony Award nominee Kathryn Gallagher (Jagged Little Pill), Emmy Award nominee Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound), Telci Huynh (God Friended Me), Tony Award winner Nikki M. James (Book of Mormon), Aparna Nancherla (Corporate), Larry Owens (High Maintenance) and Zane Pais (Room 104).

Completing the lineup are Academy Award winner Anna Paquin (Flack), Isaac Powell (Dear Evan Hansen), Ben Rappaport (For the People), Milan Ray (Troop Zero), Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Golden Globe Award winner Miranda Richardson (Stronger), Marquis Rodriguez (When They See Us), James Scully (You S2), Zuzanna Szadkowski (Gossip Girl), Lulu Wilson (The Glorias), Don Wycherley (Wild Mountain Thyme), and Jeena Yi (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).

The season was filmed in Albany, New York City, Schenectady and Troy, New York and in Dublin, Ireland

Showrunner John Carney is also one of the directors alongside John Crowley (Brooklyn), Marta Cunningham (Insecure), Jesse Peretz (Glow), Andrew Rannells (Black Monday) and Celine Held and Logan George (Topside).
