All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur: When is it released on Prime Video? All you need to know – including the dramatic first trailer

Following on from Manchester City, Sunderland and Leeds, Tottenham Hotspur become the latest British football team to let a TV crew inside the dressing room and behind the scenes at the football club.

Amazon Prime Video’s All or Nothing franchise, which began in America with American Football team the Arizona Cardinals, has also previously covered the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Rams, the New Zealand rugby team and the Brazilian national football team.

Securing unprecedented access to the teams involved, sports documentary series All or Nothing gives fans a true insight of how elite sport teams and plays operate off the field.

When is All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur released?

The behind-the-scenes docu-series will launch exclusively on Prime Video on Monday, August 31st in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. 

Further episodes will be released on Monday, September 7th and Monday, September 14th.

There are nine episodes in total.

Alongside the launch date announcement, the full series trailer has been revealed, showcasing some of the scenes and moments that will dominate the series.

The 2019/20 season has been a rollercoaster ride for Spurs and the arrival of José Mourinho looks likely to dominate the story.

Footage in the trailer suggests fans may get to see a different side of Mourinho and the tactics he uses to build team spirit and win silverware.

The cameras have also captured the difficult moments in the season, including numerous injuries to star players such as Harry Kane and the moment Heung-Min Son was sent off in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Christmas.

Why are football fans excited about this series?

Manchester City’s All or Nothing series generated a huge amount of conversation among football fans because of the access the show was granted behind the scenes at the club.

A repetition of that series in a different setting initially felt like it was might be unnecessary – but that didn’t take into account the unpredictability of life at a football club.

Whereas the Manchester City series coincided with the club’s rise to the top of the Premier League and establishing themselves as a dominant force in England, the Spurs series finds a football club in a much more dramatic state of affairs.

Following a hugely successful 2018-19 season, which saw the club reach the Champions League Final and finish in the Premier League top 4, All or Nothing follows the rollercoaster ride of the 2019-20 season.

Spurs had a dramatic drop off in form, lost key players to injuries and in January, star playmaker Christian Eriksen departed for Inter Milan.

Most significantly, after five successful years at the club, Mauricio Pochettino lost his job as manager and was replaced by the divisive figure of Jose Mourinho.

The arrival of Mourinho and his impact on the team is teased in the first-look trailer.

It is expected the show will also cover recent events such as player Eric Dier rushing into the stands to confront a fan at the end of a game and the fallout from Covid-19, breaking up the end of the season.

What else can fans expect to see?

When the series was announced, the producers were anticipating another season of success for Mauricio Pochettino and the possibility of some silverware for the North London club.

The production team also revealed that cameras would be inside Spurs’ world-leading training facilities, their brand new epic 62,000-seater stadium in North London.

Away from the pitch, the docuseries will focus on the unique aspects of the club, including its extensive work and impact in helping to transform the local area.

Speaking before the start of the 2019-20 season, Spurs Head of Business Development Aidan Mullally said: “This is an exciting time to be a part of our football club and we are delighted that Amazon will be there to follow us every step of the way throughout the season.

“We are looking forward to bringing our supporters and viewers around the world closer to the Club than ever before and sharing our story through Amazon's world-class platform as we embark on our first full season at our new stadium in our home of Tottenham.”

Mourinho's verdict on the series

The divisive and charismatic manager believes the series will be a hit with viewers, but has revealed that he has no plans to watch himself back on screen.

"I don't like the feeling of being in Big Brother and I try to forget them," he said, in the press conference for the North London derby.

"Am I going to watch it? No. It is not something I want to do, also because I know better than anyone what our day by day is here but I think it will be very interesting for the people who love football and sport. It will be great for them."

First look behind-the-scenes clips

The first footage from the series has been released by Prime Video, giving viewers a taste of what they can expect from the series.

Featuring star players Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon and Steven Bergwijn, the clip shows how the team bond off the pitch with Haribo and FIFA 202.

"If I have a good connection with people off the pitch, I feel like our connection on it is so much better," says Alli.

"People always used to say to me when I'm younger that there are no friends in football, but I feel like my team-mates here are like a family. I'd call every one of them a friend."

Another teaser clips features Brazilian Luca Moura discussing the importance of being a role model to young Spurs fans and surprising a lucky supporter.

DJ Annie Mac also released a first-look clip that might explain why Mourinho isn't planning to watch the series back. Apparently the 'Special One' gets annoyed when people mispronounce his name.
