Gomorrah season 5: Trailer, release date and everything you need to know about the final series of the Italian crime drama

Since premiering in 2014, Italian crime drama Gomorrah has been a huge hit in both Europe and the US.

Fans have been desperate for the fifth and final series since season 4 ended in May 2019, and they don’t have to wait too much longer.

Here’s everything we know so far about Gomorrah season 5…

When will Gomorrah season 5 be released?

Gomorrah season 5 will premiere in the UK on Saturday, December 18 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

There will be 10 episodes in season 5, which was filmed in Naples in Italy and Riga in Latvia.

What will happen in season 5? Who’s in the cast?

The new series sees the iconic protagonists return. Salvatore Esposito will play Genny Savastano, who was forced to hide in a bunker at the end of season 4.

Arturo Muselli again plays Enzo Sangue Blu, Ivana Lotito returns as Genny’s wife Azzurra Avitabile, and Marco D'Amore once again stars as Ciro Di Marzio.

At the start of the series, police are looking for Genny while Ciro is alive and well in Latvia. There are also new, mysterious characters preparing for an imminent clan war.

Fans can expect to see how the clash between the Levantes and Patrizia left Naples in a pile of bricks, forcing Genny to give up his dream of normality and to return to action.

He was forced into a bunker, alone without Azzurra and little Pietro - and now his only ally is 'O Maestrale, the mysterious crime boss of Ponticelli, an eastern district of Naples.

And when Genny discovers is alive, nothing will ever be the same again.
