Coming to Amazon Prime Video in February, fans of The Matrix should enjoy the trippy sci-fi of Bliss.
Missing cinemas and new movies to watch every month? Amazon Prime Video might be able to give you a fix over the coming months with loads of exciting new releases from romantic dramas (I Still Believe) and nail-biting action (Greenland) to the genre-busting sci-fi of Bliss.
Bringing together the talents of Owen Wilson, Salma Hayek and director Mike Cahill (Another Earth), Bliss looks perfect for anyone who enjoys mind-bending movies.
What is Bliss about?
Bliss stars Owen Wilson as Greg, whose life is turned upside down when he meets Isabel (Hayek), who reveals there is more to his world than meets the eye.
In the trailer, Isabel shows Greg how they are both capable of incredible feats such as moving objects with their minds, and she explains how the world he knew is a grey, drab simulation in a more colourful ‘real world’.
But as the lines are blurred between the two worlds, Greg suddenly faces a dark choice over where he wants to spend his future.
Here is the official synopsis for the film:
Bliss is a mind-bending love story that follows recently divorced Greg whose life is falling apart meets the enchanting Isabel, a woman who lives on the streets and is convinced that the polluted, broken world around them is not real. She believes they are living in an ugly, harsh world simulation inside of the beautiful, peaceful "real" world of bliss. Doubtful at first, Greg eventually discovers there may be some truth to Isabel’s wild conspiracy theory.
Who is in the cast of Bliss?
Alongside Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek, the film also stars Madeline Zima, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. DeRon Horton, Joshua Leonard, Nesta Cooper, Steve Zissis, Dayne Catalano and TV scientist Bill Nye.
The film is Owen Wilson’s first in four years and marks the start of a busy year for the actor, who will also be appearing Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and alongside Jennifer Lopez in Marry Me.
He’ll also be joining the Marvel Universe as Mobius M Mobius in Disney + TV series Loki.
