The Sky Cinema hot list: From Toy Story 4 to Four Kids and It - family films to watch at home with the kids on NOW TV

Cinemas up and down the country might have shut their doors due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), but you can still enjoy a trip to the movies in your own home as there are loads of family films to watch on Sky Cinema with NOW TV.

From the newest Disney remakes like Aladdin and The Lion King, to classic animated kids’ films like The Incredibles and Monsters, Inc, keep reading for our pick of the best movies the whole family can enjoy with the NOW TV Sky Cinema Pass.

Four Kids and It

Based on the award-winning bestseller from Jacqueline Wilson, Four Kids and It tells the tale of an epic journey of four children. 

Starring Paula Patton, Michael Caine, Matthew Goode, and Russell Brand, the Sky Cinema original follows the children on holiday in Cornwall who meet a magical creature on the beach with the power to grant wishes.

Monsters, Inc

There's a reason why there are monsters in children's closets - it's their job. Monsters, Inc. is the most successful scream-processing factory in the monster world, and there is no better Scarer than James P. Sullivan aka Sulley (voiced by John Goodman). 

But when Sulley accidentally lets a little human girl into Monstropolis, life is turned upside-down for him and his buddy Mike (played by Billy Crystal).

Monsters, Inc sequel Monsters University is also available to stream on Sky Cinema.

The Incredibles

Battling a bulging belly and a boring job, Mr Incredible (the voice of Craig T. Nelson) longs for the glory days of upholding law and order while his superhuman family tries to fit in with their 'normal' life. 

Relief from quiet suburbia eventually comes years later, when the family uncovers a diabolical plan and must combine their respective strengths to save the day.

The 2018 sequel, Incredibles 2, is also streaming on Sky Cinema.

Ralph Breaks the Internet 

Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to 2012 film Wreck-It Ralph, is one of those perfect family films that both kids and grown-ups can enjoy in equal measure.

Made by the same people that created Moana, Zootropolis and other Disney hits, the Oscar-nominated film leaves the video arcade of the original behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet.

Video game bad guy Ralph (the voice of John C. Reilly) and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) must risk it all by travelling to the world wide web to search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush.

In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet - the netizens - to help navigate their way. But will the internet survive Ralph’s wrecking?

Aladdin

Fans of the original Disney animated movie Aladdin won’t be disappointed by the 2019 remake.

Director Guy Ritchie makes the live action movie feel fresh and current, appealing to fans of the recent slew of remakes along with fans who are nostalgic for the 1992 animated version, too.

Will Smith makes the Genie his own - no mean feat considering Robin Williams' animated tour de force - alongside the perfect casting of Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine - the latter complete with a new feminist attitude.

The original 1992 Aladdin animation is also streaming on Sky Cinema.

Toy Story 4

Set immediately after the events in Toy Story 3, Toy Story 4 sees Woody (the voice of Tom Hanks) confident about his place in the world and sure that his priority is to take care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. 

But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called Forky (voice of Tony Hale) to her room, a road trip adventure alongside friends old and new shows Woody how big the world can be for a toy. 

The Lion King

Having already brought The Jungle Book - also streaming on Sky Cinema - to life, director Jon Favreau has revitalised another classic Disney animation in one of the most visually dazzling films of recent years - The Lion King. 

The story of Simba the lion cub is brought to life in a way never seen before, with the whole African Savannah, and the life it teems with, recreated with photorealistic accuracy. 

It’s an awe-inspiring way to re-experience the love, fun, tragedy and music that made the original stand out as one of the greatest films of the 1990s.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

The jokes come fast and furry-ous in this sequel to the 2016 animated hit about the lives our four-legged friends lead when we head out to work or school each day.

In The Secret Life of Pets 2, change is in the air for Jack Russell Max (the voice of Patton Oswalt) when his owner Katie gets married and brings a new arrival home. When the new family unit head to the countryside, farm dog Rooster (voiced by Harrison Ford) tries to teach Max how to overcome these new challenges. 

Meanwhile, bunny Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart) goes on a superpowered mission to rescue a white tiger from a circus.

Mary Poppins Returns

In Mary Poppins Returns, Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, The Girl on the Train) plays the magical English nanny, combining the traits that Julie Andrews brought to the role with her own unique take.

Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Into The Woods), the dazzling Disney film - based on the books by  P. L. Travers - is set 24 years after the original movie.

Based in 1930s London, Jane and Michael Banks are now all grown up. Michael has three children of his own, but he’s struggling to look after them after the death of their mother.

Along comes Mary Poppins, and through her unique magical skills and with her friend Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) by her side, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

The original Mary Poppins film from 1964 is also available to stream on Sky Cinema.

Christopher Robin

Christopher Robin, the live-action update of the Winnie-the-Pooh story, is the perfect family film for adults and children alike to watch.

The title character, played by Ewan McGregor, is all grown up and working in London. Sadly, this middle-aged workaholic has forgotten all about his childhood in the Hundred Acre Wood and, with it, his animal friends.

Christopher has completely lost his sense of imagination, until he suddenly meets his old friend Pooh Bear, who helps him to rediscover the joys of life as the pair go searching for Pooh’s lost friends Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks are two of the big name stars in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part - the witty and hilarious sequel to the 2014 family film.

Directed by Mike Mitchell (Trolls), the film follows Emmet Brickowski (Pratt) as he attempts to rescue his friends from the Systar System while dealing with a coming cataclysm known as 'Armamageddon'.

It's been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.
