After showcasing her comedic chops in the action-comedy Shotgun Wedding earlier this year, Jennifer Lopez now brings the grit to play a deadly assassin in The Mother.

The Mother is Netflix’s next big action thriller – following smash hits such as Red Notice and The Gray Man – and will be directed by Mulan’s Niki Caro.

Lopez is joined by an impressive cast including Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Omari Hardwick (Power) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Coco) – and the first-look trailer suggests J.Lo fans can expect to see the Hollywood icon in full bad-ass mode.

"I’m a killer, but I’m also a mother," says Lopez in the trailer. Viewers then get a glimpse of Lopez taking out a string of bad guys who kidnap her daughter – headbutting, torturing and walloping anyone who stands in her way.
