Summer is here and BT TV is jam-packed with box sets, new series and special episodes of all the best new kids TV from Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

The concepts of school holidays and term time may have gone out of the window for many parents in 2020, but if you’ve been struggling with home schooling, it's time to take a breather.

We’ve rounded up the best upcoming kids TV in July including superhero cartoons, dance-along family fun and some old classics.

What is BT TV Kids?

Add BT TV Kids to your TV package and you can watch live channels including Disney Junior, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

You can also watch back-to-back episodes and box sets when it suits you on the BT Player.

And you can also take your favourite shows and episodes with you on the go with the BT TV App.

Marvel’s Super Hero Adventures

Why can’t toddlers enjoy Marvel superheroes too? If you’ve got an adventurous mini-Iron Man or Captain Marvel in your family, these short animated adventures are sure to be a big hit.

Designed for pre-schoolers not yet ready for the nail-biting action and adventure of the full Marvel movies or TV series, these short bursts of colour and fun will inspire young viewers with their lessons in friendship, co-operation and heroism.

Watch on Disney Junior, BT TV channel 481, from July 20.

Hotel Translyvania: The Series

The hit animated movie spawned two sequels (a third is on the way in 2021) and a TV spin-off series which focuses on Dracula’s teenager daughter Mavis – voiced by Bryn McAuley.

Perfect for kids aged six and over, this colourful and lighthearted series is full of friendly monsters, slick animation and lashings of good humour.

Watch new episodes on Disney XD, BT TV channel 482, from July 9.

Fam Jam

This new competition series from Disney is perfect entertainment from all the family, but be warned – your kids might want to see your old-school dance moves.

Dance and music have always been a big part of kids TV, but never quite like this.

Dance Fam offers a cash prize to the contestants with the best grooves and moves. The catch? You have to enter as a family.

Full of heart, wild routines and outrageous costumes, the series lets kids, mums and dads unleash their finest moves with the help of the world’s best young choreographers.

Watch the new series from July 20 on Disney Channel, BT TV Channel 480.

Ready Set Dance

If your kids are a bit young for a Zoom keep-fit session or a half-hour PE workout with Joe Wicks, but you’d like to get your kids a little more active, this show could be the perfect answer.

Ideal for pre-schoolers and parents to do together, Ready Set Dance is an energetic blur of fancy-footwork, shoulder shuffles and spins, which encourages your little ones to build up confidence and co-ordination.

It won’t be long until you’re jumping and jiving along with the animated hosts – and the kids might love it too.

Watch the new series on Nick Jr, BT TV channel 484, from July 27.

Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street

Gortimer Gibbons on Nickelodeon Nickelodeon

For any adults nostalgic for a 90s-style, coming-of-age kids' TV series, Gortimer Gibbons will bring back wonderful memories of those care-free days.

Perfect for kids over six, Gortimer is a creative and sunny series about three friends who live on an ordinary suburb that has a little bit of magic just underneath the surface.

Life is anything but normal for Gortimer and his two best friends, Ranger and Mel, as they navigate Normal Street - an ordinary suburb that has a hint of something magical.

Watch new episodes on Nickelodeon, BT TV channel 483, from July 6.

The Thundermans

American TV still remains the king of the young teen comedies, but things have come a long way since the days of Saved by the Bell and California Dreams in the early 90s.

Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans was a smash hit for five years with four seasons of superhero hi-jinks and family squabbles. And BT TV has loads of classic episodes and box sets to keep everyone entertained this summer.

Imagine a real-life version of Pixar’s The Incredibles with the added factor of bickering teen twins – one of whom wants to be a supervillain, and the other a superhero.

Full of joy and laughter, kids over six will be addicted to this supe-filled sitcom.

Watch loads of classic Thundermans on Nickeldeon and on the BT Player all month.

Thundercats Roar!

There's going to be a whole new generation of kids chanting, 'Thundercats HOOOO!' in the playground.

The 80s animated classic that parents will remember fondly is getting a refresh from Cartoon Network.

Bringing the series up to date for young TV fans who have grown up on Teen Titans Go, the show has a modern humourous style but the essence of the original series remains the same.

Lion-O, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetra and the gang are survivors from the recently destroyed peace-loving planet Thundera, who are trying to establish a new home on Third Earth.

Unfortuantely for them a host of villains stand in their way, including Third Earth’s wicked ruler Mumm-Ra.

Watch Thundercats Roar on Cartoon Network,  BT TV channel 486, the BT Player and BT TV App.

Wacky Races

Parents can relive their youth and kids can discover the magic of the Hanna-Barbera 1960s classic, which remains as addictive and well-loved over 50 years on from when it first aired.

Dick Dastardly, Muttley, the Gruesome Twosome and Penelope Pitstop may all have had a fresh lick of paint, but this reboot stays true to the spirit of the original series.

Kids will love the action and mishaps, while parents can bathe in the nostalgia and enjoy the frequent fourth-wall-breaking gags.

Watch new episodes on weekdays on Boomerang, BT TV channel 487.

Weekend Movies

Fireman Sam on Cartoonito Cartoonito

If you’ve got pre-schoolers who aren’t quite ready for the Disney back catalogue or cinema releases, Cartoonito is the perfect place to begin having family movie afternoons on the sofa.

In July, you can enjoy the latest feature-length specials from enduring kids TV classics such as Thomas and Friends, Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam.

Watch on weekends from 8am on Cartoonito, BT TV channel 488.
