We’ve got oodles of fantastic box sets of classic and new kids TV shows on BT TV.

One of our favourite new series is the joyous and hilarious Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.

A story of samurai cat Mao Mao, his best buddy sidekick Badgerclops and his adorable and cute protégé Adorabat, the series wears its influences of 90s computer games and cartoons proudly and sprinkles some classic humour on top.

Why kids and adults will love this show

Created and voiced by Parker Simmons, one of the writers and animators on OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes, and Titmouse animation studio, the show has all the hallmarks of a great cartoon series.

Sneaky visual gags, electric-paced dialogue between buddies Mao Mao and Badgerclops and quirky adventure plots with subtle underlying messages about mental wellbeing, friendship and heroism, there is a richness to Heroes of Pure Heart that you won’t find in every kids TV show.

Mao Mao’s madcap passion to be a legendary hero, Badgerclops’ laidback style and love of pie and pastries, and Adorabat’s giddy adulation of her two new friends make this trio easy to love and rich for storytelling possibilities.

This is one eccentric and wild adventure you’ll love just as much as your kids.

Which age group will enjoy this series?

Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart is perfect for kids aged six and upwards.

The homages to classic Saturday morning cartoons, the razor-sharp witty dialogue and vibrant, high-energy animation also means that it doesn’t really matter how old you are.

We won’t tell anyone if you enjoy an extra couple of episodes long after the kids have gone to bed.
